Community rules and content boundaries
NODE helps HKUST members find exchange and mutual-help partners safely and anonymously. Anonymous does not mean unaccountable: NODE retains verified account identity for authorised moderators and may cooperate with the University or law enforcement on serious cases.
Content you may not publish or send
Illegal or prohibited activity
Illegal trading, prohibited goods, academic cheating, evasion of university rules or other unlawful content.
Hall-place trading
Selling, renting or trading a hall place for a benefit, or arranging a private room change without SHRLO approval.
Fraud and impersonation
False requests, phishing links, requests for passwords or verification codes, and impersonation.
Harassment and threats
Stalking, threats, personal attacks, repeated harassment or unwanted sexual remarks.
Hate and discrimination
Abuse or exclusion based on race, nationality, gender, religion, disability or another protected identity.
Sexual content and services
Explicit sexual content, sexual services or any inappropriate content involving minors.
Privacy violations
Publishing student IDs, room numbers, phone numbers, real names, timetables or precise identifying information.
Spam and promotion
Flooding, duplicate posts, traffic diversion, unauthorised advertising or pyramid schemes.
Enforcement
Moderators may hide or remove content, issue warnings, restrict posting, suspend accounts or permanently ban users. Decisions consider severity, real-world risk, repeated behaviour and appeal evidence. For urgent threats to personal safety, contact the HKUST Security Control Center or Hong Kong emergency services directly.
These rules do not replace HKUST policies, residence rules or Hong Kong law. They should be reviewed by the University or legal counsel before public launch.
